BRING ME SCHRÖDINGER’S HEAD
Repairing my Wacom Intuos4 Pen.
I haven’t used a mouse in several years thanks to my Wacom tablet and pen, so needless to say I was a bit concerned when the rubber grip slipped off in mid-use, detaching it from it’s hard plastic half and exposing the circuit board within.
In the process, several parts fell out, I attempted to put it back together but found my side switch had lost pressure and my top switch wasn’t working. Therefore, I decided to disassemble the pen of it’s main components in an attempt to see how I could fix it (see main photo).
The smaller parts of the top side switch had come away from the circuit board, through a bit of trial and error, I fixed it and got my side switch to function again. Here is the order of how the parts assemble, hopefully you’ll get a good idea from the photos:
1. The silver disc, sits on top of the black and silver circle part of the circuit board.
2. Next, I placed the sticky plastic circle sheet on top.
3. Then the small silver part with the bronze nubbin face up.
4. Finally I firmly pressed the silver octagon piece on top. You will notice there are hooks on the side which will click in to place on the circuit when firmly pressed down.
The small coiled spring sits on the top end where the eraser is located, next I placed the eraser cover on top to keep the coil in place. I then slipped on the rubber grip, then the hard plastic half on the other end, before replacing the nib components and side switch back on.
The silver octagon piece isnt clicking into place for me, can someone explain how i get it to stay in place?
